It was Sunday and Sneha was on her way to Asha's house. But Asha's mother informed her that Asha had gone to Dolly's house for a party. So Sneha thought she would pay a visit to Barkha. But Barkha too was not at home and Sneha came to know that she had gone to her friend's place for a party. "Has she gone to Dolly's house?" Sneha asked. Barkha's sister replied, "Yes, I think that's the name of her friend where she has gone for the party."
Sneha was surprised. She came back home and called up at Raj's place and then Santosh's and even at Shruti's house. But none of them were at home. All had gone to Dolly's house. Sneha started feeling sad. How come everyone had gone to Dolly's place for a party and she did not even know about it? Why was the party being held? How come Dolly who was a good friend of hers had not invited her? Only she had been left out and she didn't know why! Why had all of them singled her out like this? Yesterday nobody even discussed about going for any party. Even Dolly was her normal self at school yesterday. Then when did they plan all this? And why did they exclude her?
As she kept probing for an answer to all these questions, she did not even hear the doorbell and was jolted out of her thoughts when her mom called out to her, "Sneha the doorbell is ringing. Open the door."
When Sneha opened the door she was surprised to see Asha at the door and Asha had a serious expression on her face.
Sneha asked her what was wrong. Asha's expression became more serious and she said, "I don't know how to tell you this..."
Asha told Sneha that their friend Dolly had fallen down and broken her leg. At first Sneha thought"Serves her right, she did not invite me. But after all friends are friends, and Sneha went along with Asha to Dolly's house. A big surprise awaited her. There was a lovely party arranged for Sneha. All her friends had kept it a secret from her. Thr reason for the party was that Sneha had scored 98% in her exams.
She said that they were giving Sneha a party because she stood first in the annual exam. They all went to Dolly's house for discussing what presents to give Sneha.
Sneha wanted to know what went wrong and was now prepared to hear from her friend. Asha reminded her about the National level Essay competition. There were only two participants from her school. Dolly and sneha were in the race. Dolly won the competition and there was a small get-together in her place. Her friends were very particular not to inform earlier as she could not face disappointments. Sneha now understood and immediately called up to convey her wishes. Dolly invited her and Sneha was getting ready to visit her friend.
It was actually Sneha's birthday that day and thus her friends had arranged for a surprise, grand party for her. As a result, all of them went to Dolly's house for decoration and making arrangements as it was the venue for the party. When Asha came to Sneha's house with a serious expression, she wanted to give her a real surprise and hence she acted as if something had gone wrong so that Sneha couldn't guess the truth. Thereafter, Asha took Sneha to Dolly's house and wished her Happy Birthday. Sneha was thrilled and thanked her friends.
that Dolly has taken a vow not to talk to you. That is why she did not invite you to her party.
Gulping a couple of times, Asha suddenly burst out, "Happy Birthday Sneha" along with the rest of the friends who rushed from the sides carrying gifts.... "We were planning a surprise party for you in Dolly's house... and that is why you are not invited. Your parents are also part of the plan," one of her friends explained....
Asha was scaring Sneha by becoming more & more serious. Actually, Dolly had forgotten to invite Sneha. So, now she had sent Asha to tell sorry for her act & to invite her now.
Asha seemed very serious and she said, "I don't know how to tell you this but Dolly is very sick and she has been very sick for awhile. That is why we were all at her house. Not for a party but actually to see her." But then Sneha enquired, "Why didn't she tell me about this?" Sneha replied, "Well, since both of you are such good friends, she thought you will worry too much. But now Sneha, I think you should go meet her." Sneha readily agreed and both of them left for Dolly's home. When they reached Dolly's home, Asha rang the doorbell twice and then someone unlocked the door. Asha pushed it open. "SURPRISE!" yelled people from inside, and when Sneha looked inside closely, all her friends were there-Barkha, Raj, Santosh. In the middle, between everyone was Dolly. She couldn't believe her eyes! The house was decorated with balloons and colourful ribbons, and there was a big sign which said-HAPPY BIRTHDAY SNEHA. Sneha had completely forgotten! It was her surprise birthday party here and all her friends had been organising it secretly for so long. How could she ever doubt their friendship. Now Sneha was very happy and thanked all her friends for this lovely gift.
"I don't know how to tell you this, so you should come with me" "Where?" sneha asked "You will see when we get there. You have to see for yourself to believe" Asha said They walked few blocks and came near Dolly's house. "Why are we going to Dolly's house?" Sneha asked in surprise. "Come with me you have to see this, I won't come in with you. You have to go first, then I will follow you, I can't look in there that's why" Asha said Sneha's hand shaked as she took hold of the door knob and turned slowly. She opened the door, it was pretty dark. Sneha turned on the light "surprise!!!!!" everyone in the room yelled. The party at Dolly's house was for Sneha herself.
Asha must have come to tell Sneha that she wasn't polite to all her friends and thats why they did not invite her and also to inform her something unpleasant
But, this is a surprise party," she yelled, and her expression became that of a joker, not at all serious!!!!!! After that, all of Sneha's other friends jumped out from behind bushes, the garage, the car, the garbage can etc, and yelled "Surprise" too. Then, Sneha invited them all in and they told her that she had got 1st in the relay race in the whole school!!!!! Sneha was soooooooooo happy! Lastly, they had a wonderful party and enjoyed themselves
But we are aliens! And she got eaten!
Asha had come to Sneha's place to give her surprise for Sneha's birthday. Her friends tried to avoid her because of the very same reason.
Tears rolled down Sneha's cheeks:What's happened?" she exclaimed. "Uhhmm, well, you se.....I don't......exuse me. I don't like you......nor does anyone else......." She let the words fall very slowly off her lips. Then she exploded with laughter. "You actually believed me, didn't you, Sneha!" she yelled. "Asha, that was terrible. You know I hate your practical jokes." Sneha said crossly. "Well, anyway, Dolly told me to come get you. We just got everything ready for you. I wasn't able to see anything or help, though. Everyone says I can never keep secrets." This was true. If you ever told Asha something, the whole neighbourhood would know in the next five minutes. "Okay, what's all this about?" Sneha questioned. "Well, if you must know, I'll give you a hint. 'B'." Then she fell silent. The only sound for the rest of the way to Dolly's, the only sound was the slow breathing of both girls, and the soft sound of gravel under their feet. When they finally got to Dolly's house, Sneha finally figured out Asha's riddle: birthday. When she got to the door, her heart was beating like it does when you play "Around the World" in math class. She was panting by now; it was hard keeping up with Asha when she was excited, which she obviously was. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" All the girls giggled as Sneha came inside. When she did go in, a whole bucket of small wrapped packeges fell on her. She stared around herself at cascades of colours. She beamed. So her friends did like her!
Sneha, I am your friend but Dolly doesn't like you and as it was her party she didn't wish to call you and asked all of us also to hide it from you and behave as such. But now we all have realised that Dolly is not at all a good girl and is just jealous of you. We know what we have not been fair, but still, we are very sorry for how we behaved we hope you will forgive us. Its alright Asha I know you are my sweet friend and let's forget everything and party tonight at my place
Because she is poor so Sneha did not invite her
Sneha might be a very poor girl and all her friends might be rich. Hence, they did not invite her at Dolly's house for the party and had been avoiding her. Asha might have come to tell her that only.
Asha reminded Sneha about the necklace Asha had borrowed from her earlier. "I lost your gold necklace while traveling home from college," Asha said sobbing. "Please accept this money our friends and I have collected. We discussed this yesterday and went searching for the chain everywhere today. But we could not find it." Asha continued, "I hope you are not very sentimental about the necklace, since you got it as a gift from your grandmother?" Sneha could take in the loss without a grudge. She had only feared losing her friends who have been so kind and affectionate. She realized that she had true friends indeed (in deed) who did not let down Asha when she was in trouble. Sneha said, "Forget everything, Asha! We should be glad that our friends have proved themselves". Both girls joined their friends waiting outside Sneha's house. Sneha invited them all to a small party on the following day. Her friends felt great. Sneha's grandmother, who had listened to everything, told them not to wear costly jewels, since they would miss a smile if they lose them. Sneha's friends thanked her and left for their homes smiling.
Asha continued saying ''please come with me to Dolly's house'' Actually they wanted to celebrate Sneha's birthday there.
I dont know how to tell you this that you are being excluded from our friends club because you are the only girl who has failed in the class so our parents have told us not be with Sneha and that is why we didn't call you to the party and that is why Dolly is also ignoring you. In the party we were thinking how to console you and who is going to tell you this, but Sneha let them not be your friends but I am your true friend and I will be your friend as friends are made through emotion not marks and I wish you top the class this year and make your parents proud.
She said that they wanted to give her a surprise.
At this Sneha became very frightened. She started expecting the worst. Asha continued," Well Sneha as you very well know that you are the only person who has not been called by Dolly and I know that you are pretty upset about that..........." Just then Sneha heard voices outside her house that sounded quite familiar to her. She could even catch a glimpse of Asha giving a slight smile. 'But as a matter of fact" said Asha as if distracting Sneha's train of thoughts on hearing the sudden voices "Dolly had decided many days before her birthday that she would celebrate the same in your house only and so you were told nothing about that just to give you a pleasant surprise. After all Dolly is such a good friend of yours. How in the wide world can she ever forget you? You also need not worry about arranging food for us or anything else. Everything has been beautifully arranged by us all. You just need to enjoy the party at your own house." This surprising news gave Sneha limitless happiness and she proceeded to give a very big hug to Dolly and led everyone inside the house to have one of the marvellous parties that she had ever had in her life. After all 'All is well that ends well'
"We have been thinking over our friendship and a lot about you. As our pack leader, you have been very mean and snobby, never letting anyone else get a word in edgewise. We wish for you to not be our friend anymore. Please don't visit with us ever again. Good-bye Sneha. Good-bye forever." Asha turned abruptly and ran away as if the Sneha released poisonous gas that would kill Asha if she stayed a moment longer. Sneha ran into her house, hot tears prickling her eyes. She slammed the door of her room shut. What had she done wrong? She had only tried to be on top of everything, always doing her best for the group, or atleast that's what she thought. Maybe she hadn't been so understanding afterall. Had she been too self-centered to see that the others were unhappy? There was only one way to find out. Although she did not have the courage to meet her friends again, she decided to write them each letters, asking what she had done wrong, how she could correct herself and how they could mend their friendship. Sneha hoped against hope that she could have her friends back. Why did they have to go wierd on her? She only hoped she would understand by the end of her quest for sympathy. As each of Sneha's friends read her letter, they did indeed realize how precious Sneha had been to them despite her bossiness and how without her, there was a hole in their hearts and a crack in the circle that was their group of friends. Sneha sincerely apologized to them and worked hard to be considerate. They once again enjoyed the peace that reigned in their little self-made world.
"Dolly is asking you why you didn`t come to her party."asked Asha. "What are you talking about?" asked Sneha dumbfounded. "She was the one that didn`t invite me!" The two girls went to the post office for further investigation. They soon found out that Sneha`s invitation got lost in the mail!
