In The Land of Oz

Author -

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is a famous book written by the American writer Lyman Frank Baum in 1900.

The story is about a young girl named Dorothy who is carried away by a cyclone to the land of Oz. There she meets a scarecrow, a tin man and a lion.
The tin man wishes he had a heart, the scarecrow wants a brain and the lion wants courage. Dorothy of course, wants to return home.
They hope that the powerful Wizard of OZ will grant them their wishes and travel to Emerald City to meet him. But when they get there they find that the wizard has no magical powers at all! Nonetheless, he helps, the Tin Man, the Scarecrow and the Lion by making them realize they already have the things and qualities they are looking for and volunteers to take Dorothy home in his giant balloon. The balloon however, goes away without Dorothy and it is a witch who finally helps her return home.
'The Wizard of Oz' was the first in a series of 14 novels and short stories about Oz written by Baum.
Besides the Oz stories, Baum also wrote other fantasies for children and plays and novels for adults. He did not live to see 'The Wizard of Oz' made into a film in 1939. It became one of the most popular films in history.
