Self Improvement
Be Your Word

Go down memory lane and recall just how many New Year resolutions you have kept and how many you have broken.
How many are the times when you have made promises to your parents, your friends and worst of all to yourself and ultimately broken them? You may have laughed it away saying, "Promises are made to be broken" or you may have gotten away scot-free as the others may not have held you to account for it. Their reason for not doing that may vary. But a common one would be they are looking for a way to break their promises too!
There are occasions when you have waited for a friend who turns up late and you can't even say anything as you too have been late in the past! Your friend has promised to come and help you out with your studies and you keep waiting for him and he never turns up. The next day you find out that he had gone for a movie. You blow your top: Why didn’t he call up and inform you so that you could have planned on some other activity too?
You promise your mom that you would clean up your room and finally she had to do it for you or you promise your dad that you would pay the fees and finally he had to pay it with the late fine included!
As you sow, so shall you reap! If you keep breaking your word, the others too will break theirs. Be your word. If you say you will do it, do it. Once you are your word, nobody will dare break theirs.
