Eragon

Author - Christopher Paolini

If you loved Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings and the Harry Potter series, you will love Eragon. The author is Christopher Paolini, an American teenager who began writing at the age of 15. Now 19, he is working on Eldest, the next volume in the Inheritance trilogy.
Eragon is a typical hero story, filled with exciting action, dangerous villains, and fantastic locations. There are dragons and elves, sword fights and unexpected twists and turns, and of course, a beautiful maiden who’s more than capable of taking care of herself.
The story begins when a poor peasant boy Eragon finds a polished blue stone in the forest. He thinks it will buy his family food for the winter if he sells it. But when the stone turns out to be a dragon’s egg and hatches, Eragon realizes he has stumbled upon a mystery. Overnight his simple life is shattered, and he is thrust into a perilous new world of destiny, magic, and power. With only an ancient sword and the advice of an old storyteller for guidance, Eragon and the fledgling dragon must fight the dark enemies of an Empire ruled by a king whose evil knows no bounds.
