FUNNY ANECDOTES

By Aakash Ravichandran (VI A)

Indian Grapes

A man who had returned to India after staying in the USA for a few years went to the vegetable shop and pointing out the tomatoes told the shopkeeper that in the States tomatoes looked like inflated balloons. Then he had a look at the potatoes and remarked that in the States they were in the size of a football. The shopkeeper was irritated. The customer then found white pumpkins lying in a heap and asked what they were. Immediately the shopkeeper replied, “Indian grapes, Sir!”

The Qutab Minar

An American tourist was going round the monuments in Delhi accompanied by an Indian Guide. He asked the guide after seeing the Red Fort how many years it took to build it. The guide said “About 30 years!” The tourist said “We would have built it in just three years!” In the same manner he said they would have constructed a structure like the India Gate in a period of just six months.
Lastly when they reached the Qutab Minar again the tourist asked the guide how long it took to build it. The guide nonchalantly replied, “It was not there, Sir, when I passed through this place last evening!”

Dimdima is the Sanskrit word for ‘drumbeat’. In olden days, victory in battle was heralded by the beat of drums or any important news to be conveyed to the people used to be accompanied with drumbeats.
