Bharat Ratna Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman distinguished himself and received world-wide acclaim for his brilliant
researches in the domain of physical science. Steadily he climbed the ladder of fame and in 1930 he received the Nobel Prize for Physics for his discovery of "Raman Effect" which, according to competent authorities, "opened a view of research which has almost paralleled the early history of work in X-rays and radio activity." He donated the entire prize amount for furthering scientific research.

During Raman's research he witnessed a phenomenon that puzzled him. It was later named as 'feeble flourescence'. He came to understand this phenomenon. During his lifetime he conducted research on light, sound, colour, the physics of minerals, diamond & crystal & research on colour of flowers. He was undoutedly a great scientist. |
