Floating orange

I was told that...
If you drop an unpeeled orange into water,
IT WILL FLOAT

I was also told that...
if you drop a peeled orange into water, IT WILL SINK.

At home I tried...
.... first with an UNPEELED orange.
it started floating.

then I tried...
... with a PEELED orange.

I expected it to sink...
.... but it started floating...

What went wrong?
I tried with half a dozen peeled oranges..... but the result is same!
ALL STARTED FLOATING...
NOT A SINGLE ONE SANK.

Do the same experiment at home and share your experience here.
