The Honey Guide is a small bird, related to the woodpecker. It gets its name because of the way in which it guides people or animals to honeycombs.
When the bird has found a honeycomb it will go looking for someone it thinks would like to plunder the honey. Once it has found you, it will begin chirping loudly, advancing from tree to tree in the direction of the honeycomb.
Upon following the bird closely you will soon come across the comb. It will now leave you alone till you have plundered the honey. Only when you leave will the bird get down to its “real” business-to eat the wax left in the honeycomb.
