TALES FROM READERS

A Better Place to Live

"Is there a better place to live?" asked Frogalina.
"I'm sick and tired of everything!"
"Even the pond?" asked Freddy, her husband.
"Even the pond!" exclaimed Frogalina. "Why don't we go explore other places?"
"Brilliant idea!" Freddy shouted. "We will start our adventure tomorrow!"
So after a good night's sleep both of them set off to find a better place to live.
"I'm tired!" Freddy said. There's no time for whining, get going!" Frogalina said.
They hopped on and on and on and on till their legs got sore. Finally, they got so tired that they had to stop.
"Let's hop on to one of those stones!" Freddy suggested.
"Great idea", said Frogalina.
So they hopped to where the stones were and they sat down.
"It's quite chilly in this place," Freddy said. "My body is getting cold!" Frogalina said. But the bad thing was that the things that Freddy thought were stones were actually … Icebergs!
"This place is too cold!" Freddy said. "We might freeze to death!"
"I think we better get out of here!" Frogalina said.
That was definitely not the perfect place to live!
So they hopped and hopped and hopped and hopped till they were too sore to hop any more.
They were now in a very crowded place with lots of insects and animals. They looked around and to their amazement they saw a ferocious looking animal.
"Aaaaah!" they screamed!
"Hop Frogalina hop faster!" Freddy said.
"Faster, faster, faster!"
And they hopped till there were no more animals in sight.
In their minds they knew that, that place was not the perfect place to live either.
So they continued hopping. And soon they came across a humungous pond! It was actually the ocean, but Freddy and Frogalina had no clue about this. For them it was a big humungous pond!
"Maybe, this will be our new home?" Frogalina said.
So they jumped inside the water and started to swim.
After a moment, Freddy said, "This water tastes salty!"
Certainly that wasn't the perfect place to live!"
So they hopped and hopped, till they were very tired. They saw a bunch of kids playing on an equipment. There were woodchips scattered on the ground, so when they frogs hopped, their legs prickled.
"It feels bad on these wood chips!" Frogalina said.
No way, was that the perfect place to live.
So they continued to hop till they were almost unable to move. They had reached a house. They hopped up on the sink and turned the water on and sat there in the sink, the cool water soaked their tired legs. When suddenly, they saw a lady entering the room!
"Aaaaaaaaaah!" she screamed when she saw the two frogs. They were so frightened, that they hopped away.
They did NOT want a house with screaming ladies. This too was not the perfect place to live either.
After that they hopped for a long time when suddenly they came across a familiar sight - a small green pond amidst the trees. It was their own home!
They both gazed at it dreamily. They just wanted to go back to their own pond. So Frogalina said to Freddy, "Freddy, I think the best place to live is this pond."
"I agree," said Freddy.
So after many days of adventure, they both learnt that there was no better place to live than home!
Home Sweet Home!
