DUSSEHRA CELEBRATIONS

By - (-)

Nandan Junior School & Day Care ushered in the festive season by celebrating Dussehra on 19th October, 2007. On this occasion the school organized a Fancy Dress Competition where exuberant children impersonated various characters from the Ramayana and some of them even recited shlokas.
“The Fancy Dress Competition has been organized not only for the merriment of the children but also to enlighten them about the significance of Dussehra.” said Mrs. Rachna Kapoor, Founding Director of Nandan Junior School & Day Care. The show was a grand success, with children in full swing. All the parents were happy with the fact that the school organizes similar events on a regular basis. “Such events help in building up the confidence of our kids. My child is dressed like Hanuman and he even recited some of the shlokas. It’s so nice to see him performing in front of so many people.” said one of the parents.
Nandan has tried to move away from content-based and teacher-directed pedagogy and has adopted an activity-centered pedagogy, using local resources that stimulate children keeping them engaged and involved. This co-educational English medium preparatory school was started in 1999 by Sant-Laj Memorial Education Society to address the quality needs of parents living in South Delhi. The school offers a caring, nurturing environment with varied activities and social interaction for children. The study program and activities are custom designed to provide every child with a firm foundation. All this is achieved in a highly creative and positive atmosphere in the school premises.
