The Ass and the Horse

A young and struggling writer sent his first manuscript to the French novelist Alexandre Dumas along with letter in which he suggested that Dumas and he should work together on the book.
Dumas, angry that an unknown writer should ask him to team up with him wrote:
"How dare you, sir, try to yoke a noble horse with an ass!"
The youth wrote back:" "How dare you, sir, call me a horse?"
Dumas's anger vanished and he agreed to co-author the book.
