TALES FROM READERS

Bobby Turns Brave

Sweety Duck started giving swimming lessons to her two sons. Maddy was small, but he was strong and brave. Bobby was lean and was a coward.
Sweety took her sons to the pond and told them to swim. Maddy jumped into the water and started swimming as taught by the mother.
Bobby stood near the pond with his shaky legs. He said, "Mother, the pond is very big. It is full. If I jump, I will drown."
His mother encouraged him saying, "My dear Bobby, don't get scared, I am with you. I shall not get you drowned."
But Bobby kept standing with his toy robot in hand and said, "Look mother, how deep the pond is."
The mother said, "Swimming and playing in deep waters will be great fun."
Suddenly, it started raining. With the rain, Daboo the frog emerged out of the water croaking loudly. He said, "Come on kid, jump into the water."
Poor Bobby put his feet in the water and said, "The water is very cold."
Suddenly, a strong wind blew away Bobby's toy and it fell into the water.
Little Bobby shouted, "Help..., somebody help me."
No one could hear his call for help. Bobby saw that his robot was drowning.
He jumped into the water and yelled, "Robot, don't worry, I am coming to help you." Bobby started swimming. His mother came and joined him.
"Didn't I say that you can swim?" said Bobby's mother.
She lovingly added "My dear Bobby, little faith in yourself removes all kinds of fear. We can do the most difficult tasks in no time."
