The bladder campion is a flower that shuns sunlight. It is a fragrant flower whose petals open fully only in the shade or on cloudy days.
When there is bright sunlight the petals withdraw into the bladder-shaped base of the flower.
The bladder campion grows in meadows, roadside verges and other dry, grassy places.
