The flying snake is an exceptionally handsome creature with its green blue scales flecked with gold and red. It climbs even the straightest trees with great speed. Once up, it might race along a branch and launch itself into the air and glide down to a neighbouring tree. While air-borne it draws its length into a series of s-shaped coils and flattens its body so that instead of being round it is broad and ribbon-like. It seems able, by writhing, to change course in mid-air! There are two species of flying snakes in India.
