There's a species of frog in Australia that has caught the interest of zoologists all over. Females of this species (Rheobatrachus silus) release their eggs for male frogs to fertilise. Then the females swallow either the fertilised eggs or the newly hatched larvae. The eggs or larvae develop into tadpoles and then into frogs in the mother's stomach. The young frogs crawl upto the mother's mouth and leap out into the world! Why don't they get digested when they are in the mothers' stomach? Apparently the secretion of gastric juices stops the moment they are swallowed.
