Six Legged Terror

People tend to believe that black widows or tarantulas are the most horrific of the spider species. But, the bird-eating spider which lives in tropical jungles, is enough to give one nightmares! It has a large, hairy body with a leg-span of 25 cm and is very aggressive. In the darkness of night it pounces on either a bird, a small mammal or a large insect, sinks its fangs into the poor unfortunate creature, and tears it apart. Luckily for the animals of the jungle, one such meal can last the spider several weeks.
